Knownwise tracks how often AI assistants mention, rank and recommend your brand when they answer the questions your buyers ask. ## What a run is A run asks each of your tracked questions to each assistant: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity. On the Free plan, runs use ChatGPT and Perplexity. ## What every answer is judged for - Mentions — whether the answer names your brand or one of your competitors. - Position — where your brand stands in the answer, when the answer ranks it. - Recommendation — whether the answer picks your brand as the one to choose. - Sentiment — whether the mention reads positive, neutral, mixed or negative. - Citations — which sources the answer cites, and whether they are yours. An assistant may answer a question without searching the web. Those answers count like any other. Only citations come solely from answers that searched. ## How answers are counted One answer is one question asked to one assistant. Each plan sets how many answers it allows, and a run spends one answer per question per assistant. When the allowance is spent, scheduled runs pause. The Free plan's allowance covers your first report only. You read the results on your brand overview. ## Related pages - [Set up a brand](https://knownwise.com/docs/getting-started/set-up-a-brand) - [Your first report](https://knownwise.com/docs/getting-started/your-first-report) - [Metrics on the dashboard](https://knownwise.com/docs/numbers/metrics) ## Set up a brand https://knownwise.com/docs/getting-started/set-up-a-brand The onboarding wizard from your website URL through competitors, prompts, and your first report. Use the onboarding wizard to turn your website into a tracked brand. Your progress is saved as you go, so you can close the tab and pick up where you left off. ## What you do in the wizard The progress bar labels six steps — **Website**, **Name**, **Positioning**, **Reach**, **Competitors**, and **Prompts** — then you finish on **Running your first report**. Three stage names group them: **Brand** (website through reach), **Buyer questions** (competitors and prompts), and **Report** (the first run). 1. Enter your **Website URL**. Knownwise scans the site to detect the brand and prepare your first AI visibility report. 2. Confirm **Brand name** and, if needed, up to five aliases buyers might use. 3. Write **Positioning** in one sentence: what you sell and to whom. The field stops you at 140 characters. 4. Choose **Brand reach**, optional **Primary location**, and **Language** so prompts and reports match how you sell. 5. Add competitors — at least the required count for your plan, up to your plan cap — using suggestions or **Add a competitor manually**. 6. **Review your prompts**: accept or edit generated questions, then choose **Looks good**. 7. On **Running your first report**, Knownwise runs your first visibility report across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity (Free uses ChatGPT and Perplexity). When it finishes, select **Go to your report** to open your brand overview. ## Suggested competitors and questions On the competitors step, Knownwise can **Refresh suggestions** from your site and positioning. If a domain shares its name with an AI assistant, Knownwise refuses it so assistant mentions cannot be confused with that rival. On the prompts step, you may see **Building your prompts…** while it drafts questions from the same inputs. Prompts must not name your brand, its aliases, its domain, or a competitor. Accepted prompts fill your active question slots up to **10** on Free; extra accepted or unchecked proposals are stored as suggestions for later. ## When onboarding finishes Finishing the report step saves your competitors and questions, marks the brand active, and starts the first report run. If the free report was already used on this workspace, the done screen explains that everything else is saved and points you to **See plans**. ## Related pages - [What Knownwise measures](https://knownwise.com/docs/getting-started/what-knownwise-measures) - [Your first report](https://knownwise.com/docs/getting-started/your-first-report) ## Your first report https://knownwise.com/docs/getting-started/your-first-report What Free includes, what the overview shows before you have a trend, and how paid plans get recurring runs. Your brand overview is the home for each report. After onboarding, open it from **Go to your report** or the brand switcher. ## What Free includes On Free, Knownwise runs **one report** for the workspace: once that report has completed, another run cannot start on the same account. That report uses up to **10** active questions and the assistants **ChatGPT and Perplexity** (paid plans use **ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity**). Free does not schedule recurring runs. ## Before you have two measured days The overview trend needs at least two days with completed run data in the window you are viewing. Until then, you see the first-report summary instead of a trend line — **This is your first report, so there is nothing to compare it with yet. A second run adds the trend.** The **Key metrics** tiles show rates and average position across the selected window when at least one completed run exists there, including when several runs landed on the same day. **Δ** values need enough history in the prior window of the same length. With zero completed runs, the page shows **No completed runs yet** and the run banner until the first answers land. ## Getting recurring runs Paid plans that schedule runs automatically keep measuring while your brand is active. You can change how often runs happen under brand **Settings**, within your plan maximum. To move off the single Free report, pick a plan on [Pricing](https://knownwise.com/pricing) — Starter and above include scheduled runs and **ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity**. ## Related pages - [Set up a brand](https://knownwise.com/docs/getting-started/set-up-a-brand) - [Metrics on the dashboard](https://knownwise.com/docs/numbers/metrics) - [Time windows and filters](https://knownwise.com/docs/numbers/time-windows) ## Metrics on the dashboard https://knownwise.com/docs/numbers/metrics Visibility, share of voice, position, recommendation, sentiment, and stability — and when a tile shows a dash. These are the headline numbers on your brand views for the time window and filters you picked. ## Headline rates on the overview | Label in the UI | Meaning | |---|---| | **Visibility** | The share of answers that mention you. | | **Share of voice** | Your share of all brand mentions in those answers (you plus tracked competitors). | | **Avg position** | Where you appear in answers; 1 is first. | | **Recommended rate** | The share of answers that recommend you. | **Visibility** counts how often you are mentioned out of all completed answers. **Share of voice** compares your mentions to mentions of you and your tracked competitors in the same answers, so it updates when you change the competitor list. ## Net sentiment On the competitors table and sentiment view, **Sentiment** is a net score from positive, negative, neutral, and mixed mention counts in the window — higher means more positive tone overall. ## Stability on the prompts table Each prompt shows a stability marker with a visible label: | Level | Label | |---|---| | stable | **Same result in the last 4 runs** | | moving | **Changed once** | | noisy | **Changes run to run** | | new | **Fewer than 3 runs** | Stability looks at whether your brand was mentioned in each of the last up to four completed runs that included the prompt. ## When you see **—** KPI tiles render **—** when the value is null, never as zero. In the current window, **Visibility**, **Share of voice**, **Avg position**, **Recommended rate**, and sentiment **net** need at least one completed run whose completion day falls in that window. A **Δ** beside a rate needs at least two completed runs in the current window and two in the previous window of the same length. Raw counts such as answers, mentions, and runs are always shown. ## Topic and engine filters Filtering by **Engine** or **Topic** changes tables and breakdowns built from individual answers. The four overview **Key metrics** tiles do not filter by topic. ## Related pages - [Time windows and filters](https://knownwise.com/docs/numbers/time-windows) - [Your first report](https://knownwise.com/docs/getting-started/your-first-report) ## Time windows and filters https://knownwise.com/docs/numbers/time-windows Seven, thirty, and ninety UTC days; how the default window is chosen; deltas; and where filters apply. Brand views share one window discipline: UTC calendar days, inclusive on both ends, with **today** included. A **7 days** window is the last seven UTC days through today; the previous window is the same length immediately before it. ## Picking 7, 30, or 90 days The filter bar labels are **7 days**, **30 days**, and **90 days**. If the URL carries an invalid range, Knownwise picks the window automatically (the same widening rules as when you open a view without a range). The highlighted pill reflects the window the server resolved, not only what the address bar says. When you open a view without choosing a range, Knownwise may widen from seven days toward ninety until at least two days in that window have completed run data. If none do, it keeps the narrowest window that still has one measured day so a single Free report stays visible. When widening happens, a note above the chart tells you which window is shown and why — for example that a shorter window had only one day with data. ## Values and deltas in a window - A rate **value** needs at least one completed run in the window. - A **Δ** comparing to the prior window needs at least two completed runs in each window. Raw counts are never hidden by these gates. ## Exceptions by page | Surface | Window behaviour | |---|---| | **Report** | Snapshots exist for **7 days** and **30 days** only. **90 days** is disabled with **Reports are generated for 7 and 30 days.** | | **Scorecard** | Always the last **30 days**; no range control on that page. | | Prompt detail | KPI row uses a fixed **7 days**; answer history is all-time with optional **Engine** tabs. | | **Actions**, **Scorecard**, brand **Settings**, and the **Add Competitor** page | No range or engine bar. | ## Engine and topic filters **Engine** limits metrics to one assistant or **All**. **Topic** limits views that join prompts (for example the prompts table and competitor head-to-head). It does not change the four overview **Key metrics** tiles. Traffic on Free is a plan wall with no window picker; on paid plans it follows the shared range control. ## Related pages - [Metrics on the dashboard](https://knownwise.com/docs/numbers/metrics) ## Overview https://knownwise.com/docs/views/overview Key metrics, suggested next steps, the trend or first-report summary, and a short competitor snapshot for the brand home view. The **Overview** tab is your brand home: headline numbers, up to three things to do next, how you are trending, and a quick look at tracked rivals. ## Key metrics The **Key metrics** row shows four tiles for the time window you picked in the header: | Label | What it measures | |---|---| | **Visibility** | Share of answers that mention you. | | **Share of voice** | Your share of all brand mentions in those answers. | | **Avg position** | Where you appear in answers; 1 is first. | | **Recommended rate** | Share of answers that recommend you. | The row also states how many days and completed runs the window includes. When there is no prior window to compare, tiles show a baseline note instead of **Δ**. Filtering by **Topic** in the header does not change these four tiles. Filtering by **Engine** does limit them to answers from that assistant. ## What to do next Below the tiles, **What to do next** lists up to three suggestions. Each line explains one measured gap and links you to the place in the product where you can act on it (for example competitors, prompts, sources, or the audit). ## Trend and first report After at least one completed run in the window, you either see: - A **Trend** chart when at least two measured days exist in the window — visibility and share of voice over time, with notes when some days had no completed run. - The first-report summary when fewer than two measured days exist — where you appeared by assistant, with copy that a second run adds the trend. While you have three measured days or fewer, the same **Where you appeared** table also shows under the trend. On Free, after your only report, an extra panel can explain what the next run would add and how to upgrade. With zero completed runs in the window, the page shows **No completed runs yet** and the run banner until answers land. ## Competitors on the overview The **Competitors** block lists you and each tracked rival with **Visibility** and **Sentiment** for the window. **Full comparison** opens the dedicated competitors view with the full table and trend. ## Related pages - [Metrics on the dashboard](https://knownwise.com/docs/numbers/metrics) - [Time windows and filters](https://knownwise.com/docs/numbers/time-windows) - [Your first report](https://knownwise.com/docs/getting-started/your-first-report) - [Competitors](https://knownwise.com/docs/views/competitors) - [Prompts](https://knownwise.com/docs/views/prompts) ## Prompts https://knownwise.com/docs/views/prompts The prompt table, related questions you can track, and the per-prompt answer history with mentions and cited sources. The **Prompts** tab lists every question you track for the brand, how each one performed in the window, and tools to add or manage prompts. ## The prompt table Prompts are grouped by topic. Each row shows: | Column | Meaning | |---|---| | **Prompt** | The question text. | | **Visibility** | How often you are mentioned in answers to this prompt in the window. | | **Avg position** | Where you appear when mentioned. | | **Stability** | Whether your mention outcome stayed steady across recent runs (see [Metrics on the dashboard](https://knownwise.com/docs/numbers/metrics)). | | **Engines** | Per-assistant outcome for the latest run: mentioned, absent, or no data. | | **Active** | Whether the prompt is still run on schedule. | Use the topic control and **Active only** to narrow the list. When one topic has many prompts, the table paginates. The toolbar shows how many prompts are active against your plan limit, with **Add prompt** and **Generate prompts** when you have room. ## Related questions Below the table, **Related questions** lists extra questions engines surfaced while answering your prompts. Each row can show whether it was observed or derived, whether a competitor was mentioned, and **Track this question** to add it as a new active prompt when you have capacity. ## Prompt detail Open a prompt to see its full text, topic, intent, tracking status, and management actions (**Edit prompt**, **Stop tracking** / **Resume tracking**, and **Delete prompt** only while no answers exist). ### Key metrics on the detail page **Key metrics** on the detail page always use **Last 7 days** (not the header range): **Visibility**, **Avg position**, and **Recommended rate** for that prompt alone. ### Visibility by engine **Visibility by engine** shows your mention rate per assistant for those seven days. ### Answers **Answers** lists completed responses newest first. Tabs filter to one assistant or **All engines**. Each card shows whether the answer was **Web-grounded** or **No sources**, highlights where you and rivals are named, and lists **Cited sources** with labels **You** and **Rival**. Use **Load more** to page through older answers. ## Related pages - [Metrics on the dashboard](https://knownwise.com/docs/numbers/metrics) - [Time windows and filters](https://knownwise.com/docs/numbers/time-windows) - [Overview](https://knownwise.com/docs/views/overview) ## Competitors https://knownwise.com/docs/views/competitors The competitive trend, the full metrics table, untracked names engines keep mentioning, and head-to-head comparison per rival. The **Competitors** tab compares you to every tracked rival across the window you chose, surfaces names you have not added yet, and opens a head-to-head view for each competitor. ## Before data exists Until at least one completed run exists in the window, the page shows **No completed runs yet** and the run banner. The comparison needs answers from two completed runs before the full picture appears in the empty-state copy. ## Trend **Trend** charts visibility over time for you and each tracked competitor. When the chart has fewer than two points, a short note explains when the line will start — on Free, **A trend needs a second run; Free includes one report.** ## Competitive set **Competitive set** is the main table. Your row is pinned first (**You**), then each competitor. Columns include **Visibility**, **Share of voice**, **Avg position**, **Recommended rate**, and **Net sentiment**. Click a column heading to sort; missing values show **—**, never zero. **Add Competitor** opens the add-competitor flow. ## Others mentioned **Others mentioned** lists names the assistants keep citing that you do not track yet, with mention counts and **Track** to add them when your plan allows. **Track** fills in a website when the cited domain fits the name; when it does not, **Track** opens the add-competitor form so you can enter the site. ## Head to head Open a competitor row to compare answer by answer in the window. Count tiles show **Both mentioned**, **Only you**, **Only** the rival, and **Neither**. The **Prompts where** the rival **wins** table lists questions where they are mentioned and you are not, or you appear later in the answer than they do. ## Related pages - [Metrics on the dashboard](https://knownwise.com/docs/numbers/metrics) - [Overview](https://knownwise.com/docs/views/overview) - [Prompts](https://knownwise.com/docs/views/prompts) ## Sources https://knownwise.com/docs/views/sources Where assistants cite their answers, how much is your site versus rivals, domains you are missing, and the URLs behind each citation. The **Sources** tab shows which websites assistants cite in completed, grounded answers for your brand, and where competitors appear without you. ## Before data exists With zero completed runs in the window, the page shows **No completed runs yet** and the run banner. The empty-state copy explains that sources need answers and appear after runs complete. ## Summary **Summary** lists three headline numbers for the window: | Label | Meaning | |---|---| | **Citations** | How many citations appeared in the window. | | **Own-domain share** | Share of citations on your site. | | **Competitor share** | Share on tracked competitors' sites. | Share tiles can show **—** when the window does not yet have enough completed runs for a fair rate; counts stay as facts. The type filter at the top of the page does not change these three summary tiles today; they always reflect the whole window. ## Citations by type Under the leaderboard, **Citations by type** breaks citations into **Owned**, **Competitor**, **Editorial**, **Social**, **Review**, **Forum**, **Reference**, and **Other**. ## Domain trend **Domain trend** charts daily citations for domains you select in the leaderboard. Checks beside each domain plot or remove it from the chart (up to six at once). With nothing selected, the chart uses the top three domains by citations. If fewer than two days have citations, the chart shows **Not enough data yet — a line appears once two days carry citations.** ## Domain leaderboard **Domain leaderboard** ranks cited domains with sortable **Citations**, **Answers**, and **Used** columns. **Used** can show **—** when the window is too thin for a rate. **Trend** checkboxes link to the chart above; the subtitle reminds you that a check plots that domain on the trend. You can expand the table when more than the preview rows exist. **You** and **Competitor** markers show your site and tracked rivals. Filtering by source type or **Own domain only** narrows the leaderboard and URL table, not the citation gap list. ## Citation gap **Citation gap** lists domains cited in answers that mention competitors but never you. Columns include **Domain**, **Type**, **For competitors**, **For you**, and **Competitors involved**. The section ignores source-type and own-domain filters so the full gap stays visible. When nothing qualifies, you see **No gap in this window: every cited domain also appears in answers that mention you.** ## Cited URLs **Cited URLs** lists individual URLs with **Citations**, **Last cited**, and a link to **View evidence** (the answers that cited that URL). Toggle **Group by domain** or **Flat list**; load more when another page of results exists. ## Related pages - [Time windows and filters](https://knownwise.com/docs/numbers/time-windows) - [Prompts](https://knownwise.com/docs/views/prompts) - [Metrics on the dashboard](https://knownwise.com/docs/numbers/metrics) ## Sentiment https://knownwise.com/docs/views/sentiment How assistants talk about your brand — net sentiment, the four labels, per-engine breakdown, quoted evidence, and citing domains behind positive and negative mentions. The **Sentiment** tab (under **More** in the brand navigation) measures tone in brand mentions for the window you chose in the header. ## Before data exists With zero completed runs, you see **No completed runs yet** and the run banner. ## Sentiment summary **Sentiment** opens with **Net sentiment** and its hint, plus **Distribution** across four labels: | Label | Role | |---|---| | **Positive** | Favorable mentions. | | **Neutral** | Factual or mixed-neutral wording. | | **Negative** | Unfavorable mentions. | | **Mixed** | Both positive and negative in the same mention. | Each label shows a mention count. **Net sentiment** and its change versus the prior window can show **—** when the window lacks enough runs for a fair rate. With no brand mentions, copy explains that sentiment appears once assistants start mentioning you, and notes that a neutral majority is normal. ## By engine **By engine** is a table with one row per assistant that has data: **Positive**, **Neutral**, **Negative**, **Mixed**, and **Net** for each. Engine and topic filters in the header do not narrow this table; it always breaks down by assistant. If nothing is available, you see **No engine data in this window.** ## Evidence **Evidence** lists real snippets behind the numbers, grouped by tabs **Positive**, **Negative**, and **Mixed** (there is no neutral tab). The default tab is **Positive**, unless negative mentions exceed fifteen percent of all mentions, in which case **Negative** opens first. Each row links with **Read the full answer** when a quote exists; otherwise **No quote recorded for this mention.** ## Drivers **Drivers** ranks domains assistants cite when they talk about you negatively versus positively. Columns are **Domain**, **Negative**, and **Positive**. Empty state: **No cited domains behind your sentiment in this window.** ## Related pages - [Metrics on the dashboard](https://knownwise.com/docs/numbers/metrics) - [Time windows and filters](https://knownwise.com/docs/numbers/time-windows) - [Competitors](https://knownwise.com/docs/views/competitors) ## Traffic https://knownwise.com/docs/views/traffic Search Console performance on paid plans, AI-assistant referrals from Google Analytics, chart notes, top queries and pages, and manual annotations. The **Traffic** tab (under **More**) combines **Search traffic** from Google Search Console with **AI referrals** from Google Analytics when your plan and connections allow. ## Free plan On Free, the page title is **Search traffic** with subtitle **How buyers find you in Google Search, from Search Console.** You see a paid-plan wall: **Google connections are on paid plans**, with body copy that Search traffic is a paid feature and a **See plans** call to action. A muted preview illustrates the chart without fake numbers. ## Paid, not connected On a paid plan without Search Console linked, **Two Google connections fill this page** explains **Search Console** (queries and pages from Google Search) and **Google Analytics 4** (visits that AI assistants send you, such as ChatGPT and Copilot). **Connect Search Console** is the primary action; copy notes read-only access, first sync on connect, and about a one-day delay for Search Console data. If Analytics is already connected but Search Console is not, the referrals block still appears below the connect prompt. If neither is connected, one combined prompt covers both. ## Connected Search Console When Search Console is active, the page shows: - **Clicks**, **Impressions**, **Click-through rate**, and **Avg. position** for the header window, with **no prior data** when there is nothing to compare. - A note when data runs through an earlier date than the window end, and a line when the window has zero synced days yet (with last synced day when known). - **Clicks and impressions** chart with annotation marks from your notes. - Side-by-side tables for top **Query** rows and top **Page** rows (**Clicks**, **Impressions**, **Position**). ## AI referrals Below Search Console (or alone when only Analytics is connected), **AI referrals** shows session totals per assistant host when Google Analytics is linked. If Analytics is missing, the block asks you to **Connect Google Analytics** or explains that assistant referrals are a paid feature on Free. Connect Google Analytics and Search Console in Settings when you are ready to wire both halves of this page. ## Notes **Notes** lets you add dated chart annotations (**Title**, optional **Detail (optional)**, **Save**, **Delete**). Demo accounts see **Demo accounts are read-only.** ## Related pages - [Time windows and filters](https://knownwise.com/docs/numbers/time-windows) - [Overview](https://knownwise.com/docs/views/overview) ## Actions https://knownwise.com/docs/views/actions Prioritised, evidence-backed findings from the website check and Search gaps, with state, kind, and evidence on each row. The **Actions** page lists **Prioritised, evidence-backed findings** for the brand. You reach it from **What to do next** on Overview, from Settings when actions are waiting, or by opening Actions for the brand. Content opportunities are labelled **Content opportunity** and always need a human writer. ## Empty state With no audit findings and no Search-based gaps, you see **No suggested actions yet. Run the website check to get your first findings.** ## What each row shows Every row includes: - A **state** badge: **Suggested**, **Needs review**, **Verified**, or **Dismissed**. - A **kind** badge: **Technical fix**, **Content opportunity**, or **No automated fix**. - A short title from the finding category (for example metadata, content, or Search impressions on an uncited page). - An evidence line such as **1 piece of evidence** or a plural count, plus an affected URL when one exists. Search-based rows can show their own title **Win the queries Google already shows you for** with impression and click counts. ## How rows are ordered The list is ranked deterministically: 1. **Needs review** first. 2. Then technical findings that have a known fix. 3. Then everything else that is still open. 4. **Verified** and **Dismissed** actions last. Within each group, higher severity comes first, then a stable order. Findings from your latest completed website check for the brand's site fill the list first. On paid plans with Search Console connected, uncited high-impression pages append after that set, sorted by impressions. The page loads up to fifty actions at once. ## Related pages - [Overview](https://knownwise.com/docs/views/overview) - [Your first report](https://knownwise.com/docs/getting-started/your-first-report) ## Report https://knownwise.com/docs/views/report The seven- or thirty-day brand report, Pro and Scale narrative, the thirty-day scorecard with a public share link, and the no-login report page when a link exists. The **Report** tab is a single-page summary of the measured period. A separate **AI Share-of-Voice Scorecard** always uses the last thirty days and can be shared with clients. ## Report window Reports are built for **7 days** and **30 days** only. The time picker elsewhere on the brand can carry **90 days**, but Report clamps to **30 days** and shows **Showing 30 days — reports are generated for 7 and 30 days.** when that happens. The header stamp shows the exact window dates and when the snapshot was generated. ## Report sections On the Report tab, sections appear in this order (jump links under **On this page**): | Section | Contents | |---|---| | **Snapshot** | Headline KPIs: **Visibility**, **Share of voice**, **Avg. position**, **Recommended rate**, with changes versus the prior comparable window or **no prior data**. | | **Movement** | Competitor, prompt, and new-domain shifts when enough history exists; otherwise copy explains when movement will appear (Free notes one report). | | **Engines** | Visibility share per measured assistant. | | **Status** | Open alerts, audit score, **AI referrals**, and usage for the window (**Answers** against your workspace monthly allowance—the same cap as **Billing**; **Prompts** against your plan's included active questions). | | **What changed** | On Pro and Scale, a narrative paragraph when it still matches the current numbers; otherwise the stamp marks the story as stale. | Free workspaces can see a one-line upgrade hint under the snapshot when competitor or engine gaps are detected. ## Scorecard (30 days) Open the brand **Scorecard** page for the **AI Share-of-Voice Scorecard**: **Key metrics**, **By AI Engine**, **Brand vs Competitors**, **Top Cited Domains**, and **Site Audit** when a matching audit exists. The window copy always describes the last thirty days and how many runs and answers it includes. **Public share link** controls let you **Create share link**, **Copy**, **Rotate**, or **Revoke** when the brand has monitoring data in that window; without a run, **Not shared — clients need a link to view this scorecard without logging in.** or **Run the brand monitor once, then you can share this scorecard.** The public page uses the same layout without login and is not indexed for search. ## Public report link When your workspace has minted a public report link, recipients can open a no-login copy of the Report at the shared URL (same section order as the in-app Report, without usage quota or back navigation). Report share links are separate from scorecard share links. ## Related pages - [Overview](https://knownwise.com/docs/views/overview) - [Metrics on the dashboard](https://knownwise.com/docs/numbers/metrics) - [Time windows and filters](https://knownwise.com/docs/numbers/time-windows) ## Questions you track https://knownwise.com/docs/brand/questions Add, edit, pause and delete the buyer questions Knownwise asks the assistants for your brand. The **Prompts** tab is where you choose which buyer questions Knownwise asks the assistants on each run. See [Prompts on the dashboard](https://knownwise.com/docs/views/prompts) for how the table and answer history read. ## Add a question 1. Open **Add prompt** on the Prompts tab (or **Track this question** under **Related questions** when you have spare capacity). 2. Enter the **Prompt** text (1–300 characters). Describe the need; do not name your brand, its aliases, its domain, or a competitor — the editor shows **Prompts must not name your brand, its aliases, its domain or a competitor.** when a name slips in. 3. Set **Topic** (up to 120 characters; new prompts default to `general`), **Intent** (**Informational**, **Comparison**, **Recommendation**, or **Transactional**), and whether **Active** is on. 4. Choose **Save**. **Generate prompts** drafts a batch by topic without saving until you accept proposals. Duplicates are refused: **A prompt with this text already exists for this brand.** ## Active limit Only **Active** prompts count toward your plan. The toolbar shows how many are active against the limit (for example **30** on Starter). Turning **Active** on when you are at the cap shows a plan-limit notice asking you to deactivate a prompt or upgrade. ## Edit, pause and restore - **Edit prompt** on the detail page opens the same fields as **Add prompt**. - **Stop tracking** marks the prompt **Not tracked** (**Off** in the table). Answers stay; scheduled runs skip it. - **Resume tracking** turns it **Tracked** again if you still have room under the active cap. ## Delete **Delete prompt** is available only while the prompt has no answers yet. Otherwise use **Stop tracking** and keep the history (**Deleting is available for prompts without answers. Stop tracking instead to keep the history.**). ## Related pages - [Prompts on the dashboard](https://knownwise.com/docs/views/prompts) - [Set up a brand](https://knownwise.com/docs/getting-started/set-up-a-brand) - [Plans and billing](https://knownwise.com/docs/account/plans-and-billing) ## Competitors you track https://knownwise.com/docs/brand/competitors Add rivals by name and website, stay within your plan cap, and see them on the Competitors tab. Tracked competitors are the rivals you compare against on the **Competitors** tab and in share-of-voice numbers. See [Competitors on the dashboard](https://knownwise.com/docs/views/competitors) for the table and trends. ## Add a competitor 1. On the Competitors tab, choose **Add Competitor** (or open the add-competitor form from the brand menu). 2. Enter **Competitor Name** (required). 3. Enter **Website URL** (for example `betainc.com`). Knownwise stores the site's apex domain for citation matching and checks the name against the site. 4. Choose **Add Competitor**. If the site title does not match the name you typed, choose **Use** the site name or **Keep** yours first. While you are still in onboarding, you can **Remove** a competitor from your draft list before you finish setup ([Set up a brand](https://knownwise.com/docs/getting-started/set-up-a-brand)). ## Limits and duplicates Each plan caps how many competitors one brand may track (for example **10** on Pro). At the cap, the form shows the plan limit notice and points you to **Compare plans**. Two competitors on the same brand cannot share a name (**This competitor is already tracked for this brand**) or the same website domain. A name or website that matches an AI assistant cannot be tracked, because answers that mention the assistant would be counted as that competitor. You cannot add your own brand as a competitor. ## Related pages - [Competitors on the dashboard](https://knownwise.com/docs/views/competitors) - [Set up a brand](https://knownwise.com/docs/getting-started/set-up-a-brand) - [Plans and billing](https://knownwise.com/docs/account/plans-and-billing) ## Brand settings https://knownwise.com/docs/brand/brand-settings Cadence, model tier, pause, client grouping, and delete for one brand. Brand settings control how often a brand runs, which models answer, whether scheduling is on, and how you group it for clients. ## What you see The top card shows your **Brand name** and **Website URL** as set during onboarding. Alternate names buyers use (up to five, 120 characters each) are saved on the brand during setup ([Set up a brand](https://knownwise.com/docs/getting-started/set-up-a-brand)); they feed mention matching and the prompt naming rule. ## Cadence and models - **Cadence** — choose **Manual only (no scheduled runs)** or a weekly count from zero up to your plan maximum (for example up to **7** per week on Scale). The field shows how many runs per week your plan allows. - **Model tier** — **Default (mid-tier models)** on every plan; **Flagship (best models)** appears only when your plan allows it (**Flagship models are available on the Scale plan.** on lower tiers). - **Scheduling** — **Running on schedule** or **Paused**. **Pausing stops scheduled runs; manual runs and billing continue.** ## Client group **Client group** labels a brand for your own organization (up to 60 characters). Leave it empty to clear the label (**Group this brand under a client name (up to 60 characters). Empty removes the grouping.**). Choose **Save settings** when you change cadence, tier, scheduling, or the group. A plan refusal shows the limit notice under the field that was blocked. ## Delete a brand In the danger zone, **Delete brand** asks you to confirm (**Delete this brand and all its data?**). Deleting removes its prompts, runs, answers, mentions, and citations. ## Related pages - [Multiple brands](https://knownwise.com/docs/brand/multiple-brands) - [Plans and billing](https://knownwise.com/docs/account/plans-and-billing) - [Set up a brand](https://knownwise.com/docs/getting-started/set-up-a-brand) ## Multiple brands https://knownwise.com/docs/brand/multiple-brands How many brands your plan allows, switching between them, and the workspace dashboard. Your workspace can track more than one brand when your plan allows it. Each brand has its own prompts, competitors, runs, and reports. ## How many brands | | Free | Starter | Pro | Scale | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Price per month | free | $49 | $149 | $399 | | Active questions per brand | 10 | 30 | 50 | 100 | | Runs per week | None (one report) | 1 | 2 | 7 | | Competitors per brand | 2 | 3 | 10 | 20 | | Brands | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | | Engines | ChatGPT and Perplexity | ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity | ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity | ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity | | Answers per month | One report | 600 | 2,000 | 12,000 | | Audit scans per month | 3 | 25 | 100 | 300 | | In-app agent | Included | Not included | Included | Included | | Extra brands | Not available | $39 per month | $99 per month | $99 per month | shows **Brands** (included per plan) and **Extra brands** (monthly pack price when the plan sells one). On Pro, for example, **1** brand is included and an extra brand costs **$99** per month when available. On **Settings** → **Billing**, the **Brands** row under **This month** and the brand switcher both compare how many brands you use with your workspace limit (the same allowance, including extra brands on your subscription when you have them). ## Switch brands The brand switcher at the top of the workspace lists every brand in your organization. 1. Open the switcher and pick a brand to work in that context. 2. Choose **All brands** to open the brand list (**All brands** in the side nav). 3. Choose **Add brand** to start **/onboarding/new** when you are under the cap. At the limit, the menu shows how many brands you use against the plan. Brands still in setup show a **Setting up** badge and return you to the onboarding wizard when selected. The **Dashboard** always reflects the brand the switcher names: visibility, next actions, and competitor rankings for that brand only. Your organization's other brands appear on **All brands**, not mixed into that dashboard. ## Client groups On each brand's settings page, **Client group** tags brands by client name so you can tell them apart when you manage several ([Brand settings](https://knownwise.com/docs/brand/brand-settings)). ## Related pages - [Brand settings](https://knownwise.com/docs/brand/brand-settings) - [Plans and billing](https://knownwise.com/docs/account/plans-and-billing) - [Overview](https://knownwise.com/docs/views/overview) ## Brand agent https://knownwise.com/docs/workspace/agent Ask questions about your measured AI visibility, use packaged skills, and stay within your plan's monthly token budget. The **Brand agent** answers from your own measurements — visibility, competitors, sentiment, sources, prompts, and alerts — not from the open web. Open **Agent** in the left rail (or the **Agent** tab under a brand) to chat, browse past **Conversations**, and pick up where you left off. ## What it can read While answering, the agent pulls live numbers from your workspace: visibility and share of voice, the competitor table, sentiment, cited sources, citation gaps, your tracked questions, open alerts, and your brand profile. It can also save short **notes** about the brand and search those notes later. Every figure it quotes should name the time period it came from (by default the **last 7 days** when a range applies). It does **not** change your brand setup, questions, competitors, or billing. It explains and recommends; you apply changes in the product yourself. ## Default window and skills Most measurement lookups default to the **last 7 days** unless you ask for a longer window. Type `/` in the composer to open **Skills** — guided playbooks such as visibility diagnosis, competitor gap, and citation gap. Choose one to insert its slash command, then add your question. You can also open the agent with a draft question from elsewhere in the product (for example the ask box on monitor views). Edit the draft before you **Send**. ## Plans and budget | Plan | Agent access | |---|---| | Free | Included with a monthly token budget (**250,000** input tokens and **25,000** output tokens per month). | | Starter | Not included on this plan. | | Pro and Scale | Full monthly budgets (**2,000,000** / **200,000** on Pro; higher on Scale). | On Free, Pro, and Scale, a chip under the composer shows how much of the monthly budget you have used and when it **resets**. When the budget is used up, you see an upgrade prompt until the reset date. Starter workspaces see **See plans** instead of the chat. ## Conversations **Conversations** lists threads grouped by **Today**, **Yesterday**, **Previous 7 days**, and **Previous 30 days**. Start **New conversation**, **Rename**, **Delete**, or **Copy as Markdown** from the thread menu. **Search conversations** filters by title. ## Related pages - [Metrics on the dashboard](https://knownwise.com/docs/numbers/metrics) - [Time windows and filters](https://knownwise.com/docs/numbers/time-windows) - [Alerts](https://knownwise.com/docs/workspace/alerts) ## Alerts https://knownwise.com/docs/workspace/alerts Rolling-window changes across your brands, the inbox, read state, and optional alert emails. **Alerts** tell you when AI visibility moves enough to matter. Open **Alerts** in the left rail to see changes across every brand you can access. ## When an alert fires After each completed monitor run, Knownwise compares two rolling windows of the last four runs each (eight runs of history). Nothing is created until at least three runs sit in the current window. Rules watch: | What you see | When it tends to fire | |---|---| | **Visibility** | A drop of about ten points (**Warning**) or twenty (**Critical**); a rise of about ten points is a **Gain** (shown as **Info** in the list). | | **Share of voice** | A fall of about eight points or more. | | **Avg position** | Average position worsens by about 1.5 or more (higher number is worse). | | **Negative sentiment** | The share of negative mentions jumps above about 25% after sitting below about 15%. | | **Competitor overtake** | A tracked rival's visibility crosses above yours. | | **Citations** | Your own domain had at least three citations in the prior window and none in the current one. | Each row shows the metric, severity, brand, and a before → after line over the last four runs (**all engines** unless noted). The same alert type is not repeated within seven days unless the new event is more severe. ## The inbox The page lists the **100** newest alerts, newest first. Columns are **Alert** and **Brand**. Use **Mark all as read** or mark a single row as read when you have reviewed it. An empty inbox shows **No changes detected yet.** **Email settings** links to [Account and notifications](https://knownwise.com/docs/account/account-and-notifications) for digest preferences. ## Alert emails On paid plans, when a run creates **Warning** or **Critical** alerts (not **Gain** alone), Knownwise can email one digest summarizing them. **Alert emails** are off on Free. The digest respects your master **Alert emails** switch and which metrics you tick under **Email me about** in Settings. Account emails such as password resets still send. ## Related pages - [Overview](https://knownwise.com/docs/views/overview) - [Metrics on the dashboard](https://knownwise.com/docs/numbers/metrics) - [Account and notifications](https://knownwise.com/docs/account/account-and-notifications) ## Audits https://knownwise.com/docs/workspace/audits AI-readiness scans, scores, issues, plan limits, and the free check and llms.txt tools. An **AI-readiness audit** scores how well assistants and crawlers can read your site. Signed-in users run audits from **Audits** in the left rail; visitors can try the public scanner or generators without an account. ## Score and categories Each completed audit shows an **AI-Readiness Score** from 0–100 and seven categories: - **llms.txt Presence** - **Semantic HTML** - **Content Extractability** - **Metadata Completeness** - **Structured Data** - **Accessibility** - **AI Crawler Config** The **Issues** section lists findings sorted by impact, with evidence, **The fix**, and **What this changes for AI answers** when you expand a row. ## Audits in your workspace The **Audits** page lists past scans for your organization. **New audit** starts another run (subject to your monthly cap). **Run again** repeats a scan for the same URL. You can **Delete** a row from the list when you no longer need it. Monthly scan limits depend on plan — for example **3** on Free, **25** on Starter, **100** on Pro, and **300** on Scale. Usage copy shows how many scans you have used this month. For a brand, Knownwise ties audits to that brand's website: monitor surfaces such as the weekly **Report** use the latest completed audit linked to the brand when one exists. ## Free tools (no account) - **Instant AI brand check** (`/check`) — three buyer questions on ChatGPT and Perplexity with no signup. - **Free AI-Readiness Audit** (`/audit`) — full seven-category scan on any URL; **Free. No signup required. Results in seconds.** - **Free llms.txt Generator** (`/llms-txt`) — builds a spec-style `llms.txt` for a site; **Free. No signup. Ready in 30 seconds.** You can import an eligible anonymous audit into your workspace when you sign in. ## Related pages - [Set up a brand](https://knownwise.com/docs/getting-started/set-up-a-brand) - [Brand agent](https://knownwise.com/docs/workspace/agent) ## Google Analytics and Search Console https://knownwise.com/docs/connections/google Connect Google Analytics and Search Console per brand in Settings, choose the property or site, and keep Traffic charts in sync. Connect **Google Analytics** and **Search Console** for each brand from **Integrations** in Settings so the **Traffic** tab can show AI referrals and search performance. ## What each connection does For every brand you see **Google connections for** that brand’s name, then two cards: - **Google Analytics** — **See which AI assistants send visitors to this brand's site, from which pages.** - **Search Console** — **Search clicks, impressions and the pages AI assistants cite but search still ranks.** A note under both cards says **We never ask for crawler logs; if a path needs a paid host tier we say so first.** ## Connect and choose a property 1. Open **Settings** and the **Integrations** section. 2. Under the brand, choose **Connect Google Analytics** or **Connect Search Console**. 3. Finish Google’s sign-in. Knownwise requests read-only access to Analytics for the Analytics card and read-only access to Search Console for the Search Console card. 4. When the card shows **Choose a property** or **Choose a site**, pick the row you want and choose **Connect property** or **Connect site**. If loading fails, use **Try again**. If Google returns no rows, you see **No properties found for this Google account.** or **No sites found for this Google account.** ## While connected An active card shows the **Property** or **Site** name, a sync indicator with the last sync time, and **Revoke access**. If access was **Revoked** or the connection is in error, use **Reconnect** to start OAuth again. ## Where the numbers appear Wire both connections when you want the full **Traffic** page: Search Console powers **Search traffic**, and Analytics powers **AI referrals**. See [Traffic](https://knownwise.com/docs/views/traffic) for how those blocks behave on your plan. ## Related pages - [Traffic](https://knownwise.com/docs/views/traffic) ## GitHub https://knownwise.com/docs/connections/github Connect a GitHub repository through Settings so fixes can arrive as pull requests you review. Link a GitHub repository from **Integrations** in Settings when you want **Fixes arrive as pull requests you review.** ## What the connection is for The **GitHub** card shows **Fixes arrive as pull requests you review.** Knownwise uses a GitHub App; during install you choose which repositories the App may access. ## Connect GitHub 1. Open **Settings** and **Integrations**. 2. Choose **Connect GitHub**. GitHub opens the App install flow for your account. 3. After you finish install, return to **Settings**. The card shows **Connected repository** when at least one repository is linked, or **No repository connected yet.** when none are. Each linked row lists the repository (owner, name, branch, and optional path scope), its status, and **Remove connection** to drop that link. ## Access The App can reach only repositories you grant during install. Tokens stay on the server; the Settings UI never shows them. ## Related pages - [Actions](https://knownwise.com/docs/views/actions) ## AI clients https://knownwise.com/docs/connections/ai-clients Connect Claude.ai, ChatGPT, Cursor, or Claude CLI from Settings, sign in safely, and review what each client can read or propose. Use **AI clients** in Settings to let external assistants read your workspace through Knownwise’s MCP server, with the same guardrails as the in-app product. ## Start on the Settings page Open **Settings** and the **AI clients** section. The **Connect an AI client** card shows the **Server URL**, a **Copy** control, and short instructions for Claude.ai Connectors (URL only, not JSON). Under **Where to paste it**, pick **Claude.ai**, **Claude CLI**, **Cursor**, or **ChatGPT**. Each tab lists numbered steps and a short note about that client. **After you allow access, the client can read every brand in this workspace. It cannot publish, bill, or talk to the in-app agent.** **Read the MCP docs** opens the [MCP server reference](https://knownwise.com/docs/mcp) for the full tool list. ## Sign in from the client When a client opens Knownwise to sign in, you land on **Allow AI client access**. You see what the client asked for under **What it can do**, including **Read brand evidence: visibility, answers, sources and reports.** You may optionally allow write proposals; they wait for your approval in Knownwise unless you let small changes apply automatically. Connected clients can see **every brand in this workspace**. **Never shared** lists what is excluded (agent chat memory, billing, buying capacity, merging pull requests, or publishing your site). Choose **Allow access** or **Deny**. ## Claude CLI keys **Claude CLI** has no URL dialog. In **Claude CLI**, choose **Generate a key**, enter a name, and decide whether to tick **Allow changes**. The box is off by default: without it, the key is read-only (**Read only** on the key list). With it, the client may propose new questions, competitors, and settings (**Can propose changes**); they wait for your approval in Knownwise, except small changes when automatic apply is on. Copy the one-time JSON and run the command shown for your machine. You can keep up to ten keys; **Revoke** removes one. **Signed-in clients** lists OAuth sign-ins with scopes and **Revoke**; **Revoke a client and it loses access immediately.** Read tools return bounded brand evidence across your workspace; write tools propose changes that wait for your approval, apart from small changes when automatic apply is on. The full tool list lives in the [MCP server reference](https://knownwise.com/docs/mcp). ## Let small changes apply automatically Every change an assistant proposes waits for your approval until you turn on **Apply small changes without asking** under **AI clients**. It is off by default, an assistant cannot turn it on, and it covers every client that may propose changes. When it is on, three kinds of change apply at once: adding questions, resuming a question you stopped tracking, and setting a brand's **Client group**. They follow the dashboard's rules, so a question over your plan's active limit, one that names your brand or a competitor, or a duplicate is refused. Everything else still waits for your approval: editing a question or stopping it, adding a competitor, and any other brand setting. A request that mixes a small change with anything else waits as a whole. ## Changes from assistants **Changes from assistants**, under the switch, lists the newest 50 changes with the client, the brand, what each change does and its status. **Review** opens a change that is waiting for your approval. **Undo** takes back a change that applied automatically: the questions it added or resumed stop being tracked, and the client group goes back to what it was. If a question was edited or stopped, or the group changed, after the change applied, Undo refuses and changes nothing. ## Related pages - [MCP server reference](https://knownwise.com/docs/mcp) - [What Knownwise measures](https://knownwise.com/docs/getting-started/what-knownwise-measures) ## Plans and billing https://knownwise.com/docs/account/plans-and-billing Plan limits, answer metering, upgrades, the Pro trial, and the billing section on Settings. Knownwise meters usage by **answers** (one question asked to one assistant). Plans set how many answers, prompts, competitors, brands, and scheduled runs you get each month. ## Plan comparison | | Free | Starter | Pro | Scale | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Price per month | free | $49 | $149 | $399 | | Active questions per brand | 10 | 30 | 50 | 100 | | Runs per week | None (one report) | 1 | 2 | 7 | | Competitors per brand | 2 | 3 | 10 | 20 | | Brands | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | | Engines | ChatGPT and Perplexity | ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity | ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity | ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity | | Answers per month | One report | 600 | 2,000 | 12,000 | | Audit scans per month | 3 | 25 | 100 | 300 | | In-app agent | Included | Not included | Included | Included | | Extra brands | Not available | $39 per month | $99 per month | $99 per month | Open [Pricing](https://knownwise.com/pricing) to compare plans and start checkout. Logged-in Free users see **Go to Dashboard** on the Free tier. ## What is metered - **Answers** — each run spends one answer per active prompt per assistant on your plan. When the monthly allowance is spent, scheduled runs pause (see [What Knownwise measures](https://knownwise.com/docs/getting-started/what-knownwise-measures)). - On **Settings** → **Billing**, **This month** lists **Brands** and **Answers** with used and limit counts. Those limits are your workspace allowance (including extra brands on your subscription when you have them); the comparison table above shows each plan's included brands and pack prices (for example **1** included on Starter, **$39** per month for each extra brand). For the free tier, the answer meter uses the billing line **1 report included** rather than a monthly pool. - While **Status** is **Trialing**, the **Answers** line uses the per-brand trial allowance (**900**), not the paid plan's monthly cap. If the subscription ends, **Billing** explains that your report stays readable, stored data is kept, and scheduled runs pause. ## Upgrade and change plan 1. On [Pricing](https://knownwise.com/pricing), pick a paid plan and interval (monthly or annual). 2. Complete checkout. 3. After payment, **Billing** on **Settings** shows **Plan**, **Status**, renewal or trial dates, and usage. **Manage billing** opens the Stripe customer portal when you already have a billing profile. **Compare plans** returns to [Pricing](https://knownwise.com/pricing). Downgrades, cancellations, and payment updates happen in the portal; when a subscription is set to end at the close of the period, **Settings** shows the date it cancels. ## Pro trial On **Free**, checking out **Pro** on a **monthly** interval may offer **Start 14-day Pro trial, card required, cancel anytime** when the workspace is eligible. - Length: **14** days. - Payment: card required at checkout; the trial does not start without a payment method on file. - Once per workspace: an organization that already started a trial, or an email that trialed before, sees the normal upgrade wording instead. - Allowance: **900** answers per brand during the trial (shown on **Billing** while **Trialing**). - When the trial ends without a paid subscription, scheduled runs pause and the lapse note on **Billing** applies; your data and read access to past reports remain. Annual Pro checkout and upgrades from an already-paid plan do not include this trial. ## Related pages - [What Knownwise measures](https://knownwise.com/docs/getting-started/what-knownwise-measures) - [Questions you track](https://knownwise.com/docs/brand/questions) - [Multiple brands](https://knownwise.com/docs/brand/multiple-brands) ## Account and notifications https://knownwise.com/docs/account/account-and-notifications Profile, alert and weekly report email switches, and where account details live in Settings. **Settings** is where you manage identity, billing, notifications, and connections. The **Account** pane holds your profile; **Notifications** holds email choices for visibility changes. ## Account Under **Account** you see **Account summary** and **Account information**: **Full name**, **Email address**, **Email status**, **Authentication**, and your **Plan**. **Member since** shows when you joined. You can update your name and, for password sign-in, request a password reset from the security dialog. If your email is not verified, use **Resend verification email** — verifying confirms the address is yours for reports, alerts, and password resets. The standalone **Your profile** route sends you to **Settings** → **Account** so old bookmarks still work. ## Notifications **Notification preferences** control product email, not account security mail. - **Alert emails** — **Get an email when a monitor run detects a change. Not sent on the Free plan.** Toggle with **Alert emails**. - **Email me about** — choose which alert types can appear in a digest: **Visibility drops**, **Share of voice changes**, **Average position changes**, **Negative sentiment**, **A competitor overtakes us**, and **A citation is lost**. - **Weekly report** — **A Monday summary of each brand's AI visibility. Not sent on the Free plan.** **Account emails, such as password resets and trial reminders, are always sent.** Billing details and plan changes live under **Billing** in the same Settings index. ## Related pages - [Alerts](https://knownwise.com/docs/workspace/alerts) ## MCP server reference https://knownwise.com/docs/mcp.md
