Terms of Service
These terms are an agreement between you and Knownwise ("Knownwise", "we", "us") about your use of knownwise.com and the Knownwise service. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you use Knownwise for a company, you agree for that company and confirm you can bind it.
Questions: support@knownwise.com.
The service
Knownwise checks whether AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity recommend your brand. It asks the questions you track, collects and analyzes the answers, audits your website for how well AI can read it, and suggests changes. With your permission it can connect to Google Search Console, Google Analytics, GitHub and AI clients, and propose fixes to your site as GitHub pull requests.
We keep improving Knownwise, so features may change. If we remove something that is central to a paid plan, we will tell you in advance.
Your account
- You must be at least 18 and give accurate sign-up information.
- Keep your sign-in details safe. You are responsible for what happens under your account, and for the people you invite to your organization.
- Tell us straight away at support@knownwise.com if you think your account has been misused.
Plans, trials and billing
- Prices. Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, at the price shown when you subscribe. Payments are processed by Stripe. Prices exclude any taxes we are required to collect.
- Free trial. If you are on the free plan, you can try Pro free for 14 days on monthly billing. The trial needs a card. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your Pro subscription starts and your card is charged when it ends. Upgrading during the trial ends it and charges the new plan straight away; moving to a smaller plan starts when the trial ends. Each person can use the trial once.
- Renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel.
- Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from Settings. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for, then does not renew.
- Refunds. Within 14 days of your subscription's first payment, you can get that payment back in full from Settings, together with any payments for plan changes made in those 14 days. This doesn't cover a subscription that began with a free trial, and each person can have one refund; we recognise a person by their email address, payment card and billing account. A refund ends the plan at once and moves your account to the free plan; your data stays. All other payments are non-refundable, including for partly used periods, except where the law requires otherwise.
- Changes. Upgrades and added brands apply straight away, and we charge the prorated difference to the card on file. Downgrades, fewer brands and a switch from yearly to monthly billing apply at the end of the period you have paid for, and so does any change that includes one of them. A switch from monthly to yearly billing applies straight away. If we change the price of your plan, we will tell you at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you can cancel before then.
- Failed payments. If a payment fails, your plan keeps working while we try the payment again. If the last try fails, your subscription is cancelled and your account moves to the free plan.
Limits
Each plan includes the limits shown on the pricing page: brands, tracked questions, competitors, site audits, fixes and the brand agent. Paid plans ask your tracked questions every week, and you can start extra runs with Run now within your plan's monthly allowance. The free plan includes one first report. A fair-use limit on AI answers protects the service; it is set above what your plan's weekly runs and Run now use. When you reach a limit, new work of that kind pauses until the next period or until you upgrade. Unused allowances do not carry over.
Your content and data
- What is yours stays yours. You own the brands, questions, websites and other material you add ("your content"). You allow us to use your content only to provide and improve the service for you, as described in our Privacy Policy.
- What you may add. You must have the right to add your content and to connect the accounts, websites and repositories you connect.
- Connected services. When you connect Google, GitHub or an AI client, their own terms also apply. You can disconnect at any time.
AI answers and recommendations
- The answers Knownwise shows come from third-party AI models. They can be incomplete, out of date or wrong, and AI assistants change how they answer over time. Knownwise reports what the models said; it does not vouch for it.
- Scores, analyses and recommendations are produced by automated systems and AI models and can also be wrong. Use your own judgement before acting on them.
- We do not guarantee any ranking, mention, citation, traffic or other result in AI assistants or search engines.
Fixes
- When you ask Knownwise to fix an issue, it proposes the change as a pull request on your GitHub repository. A pull request is a proposal. Knownwise never merges or deploys it.
- You are responsible for reviewing a change, testing it and deciding whether to merge it. Once you merge a change, it is your code.
- Remove our GitHub App from a repository at any time to stop further access.
Acceptable use
Do not:
- break the law or infringe anyone's rights through Knownwise;
- audit or track websites, brands or accounts in a way that breaks their terms or the law;
- try to get around plan limits, security or access controls, or access other customers' data;
- overload, probe or disrupt the service, or scrape it, except through the features and interfaces we provide, including the MCP server;
- resell the service, or use it to build a competing product, without our written permission;
- upload malware or content that is unlawful, harmful or deceptive.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules. Where reasonable, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.
Our service and intellectual property
Knownwise, including its software, design and content (but not your content), belongs to us and our licensors. These terms give you the right to use the service while your account is in good standing. They do not transfer any ownership. If you send us feedback, we may use it without any obligation to you.
Availability
We work to keep Knownwise available and your data safe. However, the service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Some features depend on third parties, such as AI providers, Google and GitHub, that we do not control.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- Knownwise is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill.
- Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US $100.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Indemnity
If you use Knownwise for a business, you agree to cover our reasonable costs from claims by third parties caused by your content or by your breach of these terms.
Ending the agreement
- You can stop using Knownwise and cancel at any time.
- We may end these terms or suspend your account if you seriously or repeatedly break them, or if the law requires it.
- If we stop offering Knownwise altogether, we will give you at least 30 days' notice and a prorated refund of any prepaid fees for the unused period.
- After your account closes, we delete your data as described in the Privacy Policy.
Changes to these terms
If we make a material change, we will update the date at the top of this page and tell you by email or in the app at least 14 days before it takes effect. If you keep using Knownwise after that, you accept the new terms. If you do not agree, you can cancel before they apply.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the country where Knownwise is established, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If you use Knownwise as a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
General
- These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Knownwise.
- If part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not given it up.
- You may not transfer these terms without our consent. We may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of the service.
